December: Art for Family

“Santa with Elves – master copy” finally finished for my dad!  2010 to 2015!  It’s done!  It’s done – c’est fini!  It’s a Christmas present for my Dad I started at least five years ago.  This Christmas, he might actually get to hang it up . . . hopefully.

My mother-in-law goes by “Gaga.”  My two year old son chose this – and for Gaga this year we made some wooden frames for her wall.  She has contemporary style and a deep love for red.  Not my style – but I loved making these.

Nicholas helped with the more abstract ones.  He was allowed to use materials to his desire.  I like that my little one loves to make marks – and paint!

My favorite frame is the large one on the right.  It’s covered in silver sharpie (which actually serves as a seal because Sharpies are oiled based)  and then ink is applied for the drawing.  The drawing is Salvador Dali – Gaga’s favorite artist and one of mine.  I love this frame, and I think I’m going to make one for myself.
